What is Thermography?
Thermography, or Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI), is a safe and non-invasive way to monitor your health. It works by detecting and recording subtle variations in body surface temperature, which can reflect underlying inflammation, circulatory issues, or abnormal heat patterns linked to various health conditions.
This contact-free procedure uses infrared cameras to create visual maps of temperature differences in the body. It’s ideal for those seeking an early warning system to support overall wellness.

FAQs
Is thermography safe?
Yes—there’s no radiation, contact, or risk. It’s suitable for long-term health monitoring.
Can thermography detect cancer?
Thermography does not diagnose cancer but can detect heat patterns associated with inflammation and abnormal changes that may need further evaluation.
How long does a scan take?
The appointment length depends on the type of scan. A breast scan typically takes about 30-45 minutes, while a full-body scan can take up to 90 minutes. This includes time to review your intake and get comfortably positioned.
Who reviews my images?
All images are reviewed and interpreted by board-certified medical thermologists. You’ll receive a detailed written report with explanations of any findings, along with images from your scan.
How often should I have a scan?
That depends on your goals. Some clients do annual scans for prevention, while others monitor specific health concerns more frequently.
Is thermography painful or uncomfortable?
Not at all. Thermography is a completely non-contact procedure. There’s no pressure, no touching, and no discomfort. You simply stand or sit while the camera takes images from a short distance.
How should I prepare for my appointment?
You’ll receive a simple preparation guide, but generally:
Wear loose, comfortable clothing
These steps help ensure the most accurate imaging results.
Avoid lotions, deodorant, and oils on the day of your scan
Avoid caffeine and exercise for a few hours prior
Is Thermography covered by insurance?
At this time, thermography is not covered by MSP or most extended benefits plans in British Columbia. However, many clients find the value in investing in preventative care.
Here’s what to expect
- Simple intake and consent process
- No prep needed (except avoiding lotions/caffeine before your scan)
- In-and-out appointments with results delivered securely
- Optional follow-up consultation to review your thermal report
